Edge-to-Edge Quilting Services

Quilting designs

I have access to hundreds of edge to edge quilting designs. Many quilting designs can be stitched in different densities. Low density patterns have more space between the lines of stitches. This results in a lighter, airy finish with more drape. Higher density patterns can be more dramatic and slightly stiffer. Dense quilting is often used for quilts that will be washed a lot to minimize shifting of the layers. If you are looking for a suggestion, send me a note and a picture of the quilt.

Edge to edge computerized designs are $.03 per square inch. For example, a 70 x 80 inch quilt would be 5600 x $.03 = $168.00. Basting services are $0.025 cents per square inch. Minimum charge is $50.00.

Please contact me if you want to discuss custom services that require more attention to detail. Prices for custom quilting vary.

Batting

You can provide your own batting or select from one of the following 96 inch wide batting options.

My favourite is an 80 cotton/20 polyester blend because of the flexibility it provides. Dense quilting will flatten the batting and give a low loft impression. Less quilting results in a light and airy feel. It weighs less than traditional cotton batting. It is machine washable and suitable for quilts that are going to be used such as children’s quilts, place-mats, or tablecloth quilts. $0.60 per linear inch.

The second option is cotton with a light polyester stabilizer. This batting is strong, yet soft. It is a low loft batting. Machine washable on a gentle cycle. $0.60 per linear inch.

The third option is a natural 50%Bamboo/50%Cotton. It is lightweight and breathable with a low loft. Machine washable in cold water on a gentle cycle. Lay flat to dry. $0.60 per linear inch.

Wool batting or specialty battings can be special ordered.

Binding

Binding attached on front and back by machine.

The binding on this quilt was attached by machine on the front and back.

Binding finishes the quilt. There are five options depending on who prepares the binding strips and whether they are finished on the back of the quilt.

Client provides strips of 2 1/2 inch wide binding sewn together and pressed in half. I attach the binding by machine on the front or back, your choice . Quilt is trimmed to 1/4 inch and returned to client with binding NOT attached to the other side. This service is $0.10 per linear inch.

Of course, you can always choose no binding, and the quilt will be returned to you without being trimmed.
